Save Silver Creek. Protecting our community has never been more important.
Save Silver Creek is an association of residents who live or own land near Silver Creek Road in the South Lake Worth community.
Our mission is to stop the opening of a landfill located at 3411 Silver Creek Road. Below you will find more information, including how to request a public meeting and ways to communicate to your local and state officials.
Ditch the Dump. It’s Lake Worth it.
BAP Kennor Landfill, LLC is trying to utilize a dormant landfill permit to authorize a recycling facility on property that has never received waste or operated as a landfill. In so doing, the applicant is sidestepping much of the community engagement process normally available when permitting new landfill projects.
Silver Creek Road is a major thoroughfare in the area that is already congested from traffic to a nearby facility - Silver Creek Materials - as well as to surrounding areas of the Lake Worth area. The addition of more heavy vehicle traffic will not only deteriorate the road further but will also add to the existing congestion experienced by the community.
Additionally, the proposed facility could severely impact the Silver Creek tributary located adjacent to the facility as well as Lake Worth, a primary source of drinking water for residents of Fort Worth.
Lastly, additional air pollution caused by the facility could greatly affect our community’s most vulnerable, including those with respiratory conditions, children and pregnant women.
Protecting our community has never been more important.
The deadline to request a public meeting on the pending permit is August 18, 2023.
